SABC CALLS ON THE CLASS OF 2019 TO USE THE SABC EDUCATION MATRIC RESULTS SERVICE

Johannesburg – Tuesday, 10 December 2019 – SABC Education in partnership with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) would like to encourage all the 2019 Grade 12 learners to register on the SABC’s 2019 matric results service in order to easily access their final examination results. All Grade 12 learners are eligible to use this service from 05 December 2019 until 31 January 2020.

The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga will announce the National Senior Certificate results on 07 January 2020. The SABC Education matric results service will release the results to all students across all provinces who registered on its database on the morning of 08 January 2020.

Learners are advised to register on one of SABC Education matric result mobile services to access their results and should use their 13 digits ID number and exam number to register on the platform of their choice to access their results. In 2018, more than +/-400 000 students received results via the SABC Education SMS and USSD services.

Learners are encouraged to register on the following mobile services to receive their 2019 matric results:

MatricsMate App
• Download the MatricsMate App for free from Google Play and Apple App Stores
• You will need your 13 digits ID number and exam number to register
• You will be able to view your results on the app as soon as they are available

SMS
• SMS your exam number to 45856
• The system verifies the exam number; your exam number must be correct in order to be accepted.
• Learners will be charged R1-50 per SMS, free SMSes do not apply

USSD
• Dial *120*45856# enter exam number to register
• You will be charged R1-50 per minute
• Results will be sent to your phone as soon as they are available

Should the learners have queries relating to registration and use of the SABC Education matric results service, they can contact our call centre on 011 507 4630, Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. However, on the day of the release, the call center will operate from 6am to 5pm.

AFROPUNK has announced season two of their Webby Award-winning podcast Solution Sessions kicking off today with guests, co-founder of AFROPUNK and Matthew Morgan and CEO / Co-President Jocelyn Cooper. Hosted by Bridget Todd and Yves Jeffcoat AFROPUNK Solution Sessions uses the spirit and power of community to tackle important conversations about how culture, activism, and politics impact folks of color and the solutions that achieve positive results. For Episode 1 the hosts take it back to the beginning exploring the history of AFROPUNK and discuss the “solutions” that both AFROPUNK the Media Company and Solution Sessions provide. Morgan and Cooper share their challenges of operating a Black-Owned business in a predominantly white space and where they hope to see the platform grow to in the future. The hosts also speak with AFROPUNK staff on what it means to be Black and “PUNK” in a world that consistently tries to force the monolith. Episodes with run every Wednesday starting today.

Produced by AFROPUNK, the disruptive media company known for its global festivals, this season will explore actionable answers to real-world questions that represent a multitude of viewpoints from racially and socially diverse communities of people of color across the globe. Season two will include AFROPUNK 2019 BROOKLYN and ATLANTA co-founder FKA Twigs, #METOO movement founder Tarana Burke, the seventh President of Ireland Mary Robinson, lawyer and social activist Bryan Stevenson, former Black Panther Party chairwoman Elaine Brown and many more who have inspired and help sustain the AFROPUNK movement. Weekly episodes will include discussions around Digital Blackness, Climate Change, Art as Resistance, and Black Women in Incarceration to kick off the season.

MEDIA STATEMENT METRO FM SPICES UP LINE-UP WITH NEW SHOWS ‘MORNING FLAVA’ AND ‘THE KINGS SUITE’   Johannesburg – Thursday, 01 August 2019 – METRO FM will on Monday, 05 August 2019 shake things up a little with Moeti ‘Moflava’ Tsiki taking over the coveted 05:00-09:00 breakfast slot. This exciting new show called ‘Morning Flava’ promises to keep listeners entertained, informed and ready to tackle the day ahead. He moves over with his team Pearl Shongwe on news, Owen Hannie as the sports guru of the show and Moshe Ndike who will join the team every Friday.   Moflava joined the METRO FM family in 2015 to anchor the 08:00 – 10:00 morning slot and recently hosted the highly successful afternoon drive time show #TheDrive from 15:00 – 18:00.   The station is also pleased to announce the new afternoon drive show, ‘The Kings Suite’ between 15:00 – 18:00.
