SABC PROUD TO BE RECOGNISED IN TWO CATAGORIES BY BRAND AFRICA

Johannesburg – Tuesday, 11 June 2024 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is proud to be recognised in the 14th annual Brand Africa 100 | Africa’s Best Brands research and rankings by Brand Africa.

According to Brand Africa’s press release “The research brought together “30 diverse eminent South Africans who’ve built and/or led some of the most iconic brands in pre- and post-democratic SA to debate and determine the 30 most admired brands, events, ideas and people who have
shaped South Africa over the past 30 years”.

The SABC is positioned 2nd and 3rd place respectively, in the ‘Best 5 South African campaigns over 30 years (A-Z)’ through its top public service commercial radio station METRO FM’s iconic brand campaign ‘What makes you black’ and its mother brand campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign ‘Feel it, it is here’, which united the country in supporting Bafana Bafana.

The Corporation is also placed 3rd in the ‘Top Media Brand in SA’ category.

Ms. Mmoni Seapolelo, the Acting Group Executive for Corporate Affairs and Marketing, said, “We are pleased by the recognition, as this survey was about gauging which South African brands have been admired over the last 30 years. The recognition is these particular categories is a testament of the trust that South Africans have in brand SABC”.

Ms. Seapolelo further stated, “To be honored in the year where we are celebrating 30 years of democracy as a country, is not only humbling but a message to the public broadcaster to continue to be the voice of the nation, as we educate, inform and entertain through our various programming”.
