The Legend’s first stop: METRO FM studios

Nine-time Grammy Award winner, John Legend  graced Metro FM studios in ‘The Touch Down’ show for WOMEN’S DAY. It was the first stop he made after landing on the South African soil.

METRO FM's Dj Mlu, when interviewing him highlighted the fact that it’s not Legend’s first or second time here in SA. He asked what’s with SA that always made him comeback.

Legend replied that: "The very first time I performed in SA, at the Standard Bank Arena, I was a bit beaten up cos I [was] on tour all year and my voice was tired, but I was lifted up by the people and I just felt the energy there. I’ve been coming back as much as I could ever since, because the love I feel here is so strong.”

Touch, who was accompanying Legend reflected on that night as he recalled seeing Legend crying for the first time while performing.

“I’d never seen you cry. That [night] you cried,” Touch said

‘Ye, I felt it,” responded Legend.

“Everybody sang every song,” Touch pondered.

“… It was beautiful,” said Legend.

Legend has visited South Africa at least five times. On the 10th of August he will serenade an intimate and exclusive audience at the Sandton Convention Centre.

He will be supported by METRO FM’s own songstress Unathi Msengana and multiple SAMA winners MiCasa.
