28 October : Shikota wants your thoughts to form new party policies
We, the people, govern this country. You may not feel like that’s really happening these days but you’ll have a chance to have your say this weekend when former ANC chairperson Terror Lekota and former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa – nicknamed Shikota – call on you to place your issues on the agenda.
That’s right, whatever issues you have in mind Shikota wants to hear them because you will form the pillars of the new party. The pair have invited anyone interested in making themselves heard to their weekend national convention, which will serve as a platform for organisers to present the party’s politics. The new party is planned for launch on December 16 and the convention will mark public response to the party’s formation.
Your ideas and issues would help to form the basis of policy formation for the new party and the convention will ensure dialogue and conversation between all interested South Africans, to determine what problems or issues they had, or would like discussed in the national political sphere. The convention will be held on November 1 and 2 with provincial delegates set to arrive and register on October 31. Any interested person could get his or her issues onto the agenda that would be discussed at the convention or in the convention's sub-commissions, the organisers said.
The event will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Get more info on SA National Convention or November Convention

PEETESVT SAYS:
28 October: Change it's good, this is really a good initiative taken by Mr Lekota & Mr Shilowa which might make an impact in the sense that the ruling party will now take priority to deliver to the Public at large as they always promise to do things which are never implemented. This ruling party's need a stronger opposition so that they can always be reminded that they wont be in power forever. It is a free and equal right of every person to participate in a system of government, often practiced by electing representatives of the people by the majority of the people.
It's a democratic country after all

SNEAR SAYS:
28 October: "The new Party"!...they're just dem energy.
UNDISPUTED SAYS:
28 October: If “Terror” Lekota really fought for the African National Congress and its policies then why now a change of heart? Is he telling the truth that the ANC is diverging from its policies and what it stands for, or does he just not want to let power go?
I fail to understand why, when he was still a Minister he did not see this. If he did, why did he not raise it the way he is doing now? Is he afraid of the leadership change in the ANC, or that his mentor is no longer in power and he feels threatened by the new leadership?
It will be very much problematic if the ANC was an individualistic political party rather than the non-racial party we know.
People must agree to differ and there will always be different opinions in any political environment.
Lekota and them should have tried by all means to address the issue. Why do we see splits after Polokwane? Why did they not split before Polokwane? These are people who want nothing else than to cling to power.
To South Africans I say: don’t waste your vote; the ANC will always be your political home.
Lekota and them will come and go without achieving anything, and come the 2009 election, the ANC will still be in power.
On the way towards the 2009 elections many parties will be mushrooming and not all of those will survive defeat and poor performance.
The Lekotas of this world are doomed to fail.
viva!!!!!undisputed viva!!! TU hell with shikota!!!

KAMU SAYS:
28 October: Politics sucks. Its about power and positions. Zulus stand for what they believe in and no matter what you think. That's why they took on Whites with guns and they only had spears in the battle of Isandlwana.
PEEKAY SAYS:
28 October: now who can DISPUTE that UNDISPUTED...Lekota is power hungry...no-one started a new party when JZ was removed from office without even having a trial...isnt the same thing that happened to our former president the same that happened to JZ...in fact the ANC NEC voted to have Mbeki removed...why ddnt they start this party b4 PLK?

28 October: Hell with Shikota and Shilowa, we mst be fooled by those ppl who dnt want to be led. What is happening in the ruling party is nt someting started after polokwane, it started when JZ was fired by Mbeki of which Shikota as was a chair of the the party by then he failed desimmal to united the ANC since then instant he was deviding it, and they have been in the gov that failed the ppl of this country and he left SANDF in crisis so what new can they tell us. hell with hm nxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx !

28 October: HELLO EVERYBODY IM A NEW BABE IN THE BLOG AND I LIKE YOU ALL. I ENJOY READING YOUR COMMENTS.
BLACKMAN SAYS:
28 October: I think the is more that we dont know, that is going on up there and whatever it is it will not affect them but the poor South Africans who are poor already. My feeling about this new party is a Noooooooooooo cause i dont think the new party it is formed because of a good cause but for some personal issues that they have. As Undisputed said if they saw a problem b4 why they never raised it then and all the retired ministers why they never resinged after the Polokwane meeting, they waited until Mbeki was recalled.thats onather thing that shows that the is issues there.shikota or kotashi they must take their own party to their families and keep it until they die, they must not start with their voet-voet nonsence,we still love our country and they are making sure that the beautiful country lose its value,i will say after the stupid Malema "if you see anything that looks like Shilowa or Likota or if it is Shikota make it ran.
BLACKMAN SAYS:
28 October: Hi Bongi38, u r wellcome. just one quick question "is that 38 your age? or maybe is you house number?sorry if it sounds rude.
BONGI38 SAYS:
28 October: No BLACKMAN its not my age or house number. 38 is my lucky number, mangi thatha amachance with Lotto i always select num 38.
UNDISPUTED SAYS:
28 October: Are Mosiua Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa dishonest? According to the ANC’s NEC member and Minister of Transport Jeff Radebe, they are. Radebe says this is because their breakaway from the party is not based on policy differences.
Going by Radebe’s reasoning, the former party members who left the ANC before on the basis of policy differences were honest.
The pertinent question is: is Radebe honest in his claims?
Is the ANC handling the breakaway well? Maybe. The truth is that the leaving of the duo has left a bitter taste in the mouth of the ANC leadership.
As expected, the ruling party claims it is not threatened by Shikota.
However, the public utterances of the ANC leadership and its members suggest otherwise. It appears Zuma’s party is concerned it might lose its majority support in next year’s elections
The former Defence Minister and his deputy, Mluleki George, are going to all corners of the country and mobilising people to attend the November 2 national convention in preparation for the new party. Interestingly, Lekota and George are still ANC members.
It should have fired them long ago.
If the organisers of the national convention were elected to the ANC’s NEC and Thabo Mbeki unrecalled, would Shilowa and Lekota have resigned? Word has it that the new party was planned back in January.
It is difficult to measure support for Shikota currently. It seems to appeal to the middle classes, whites included.....viva!!! undisputed viva!!
CRAZIB SAYS:
28 October: good day misszezy,undisputed,aneta,peekay,.....n every one not forgeting my homee blackman....EISH MARA.....SHIKOTA ,PPL CAN U IMAGINE HAVING A PRESIDENT CALLED"TERRO"...what's behind dis name .mmmhhh.
MASTERT SAYS:
28 October: I support the ideology of the national Convention!
In the absence of the the new party being formed to spite the current NEC, i think the points the Shilowa and Lekota are raising are valid.
As of Now i know i will not vote for the ANC because currently their practices say more than their verbal utterance! However i still need Lekota to tell me why i should vote 4 the new party! i do not need him to tell me why i should not vote for the ANC.
I.e: The DA do not have an answer...all they know is that the ANC is wrong!
MISSZEZY SAYS:
28 October: BONGI38.....it hasnt worked yet has it...coz if it hasnt mayb its tym for change...like mr Obama likes to say
TYRONE SAYS:
28 October: I think that our country is in good democartic condition wherein everyone is allowed to form any political party at any time. The Shikota camp will help in making sure that the ANC leadership vibrates and thus meeting our needs as they will have to improve their service delivery systems. i'll urge all SA citizens to cast their vote for the party in which they believe is goood for a change, don't be mislead by the people that are sying they will not vote because they don't know that what ever the ANC and Shikota leadership is trying to do is for our own interest.
BONGI38 SAYS:
28 October: YES MISSZEZY it works for me, but I dnt get a lot of money. sometimes its 4 num ........mara its better than nothing
UNDISPUTED SAYS:
28 October: @CrazeB, I saluteyou my sistar lapho ekhoneni..............@Mastr under what bases a your supporting this idealogy, becoz according to me you still hesitating on which part you must vote for so honourable Cod, please stop perpelxy yourself........hence i still perpetuater the is no party that is going to rule this country again......while ANC is still in charge.............

viva!!!undisputed viva!!
MASTERT SAYS:
28 October: @ Undisputed...let me dipute you 4 a bit!..Lol...: i refer to the idiology of involving the public into the policy discussions. Right now it only happens in the Luthuli house, booom they say i.e Scopions gone just likle that! an honorable member of the ANC simply said the unit is going regardless what the public say!
I don give a fying rat about the break away! all i care is a party that values ma opinion......they are exercising their democratic rights..let them.
Good Luck 2 ANC and their Politician Jabu Pule ( Malema ).
CRAZIB SAYS:
28 October: lets hope yo dream will come true undisputed.
KLEVA SAYS:
28 October: Mzansi
I'm not really sure if the Shikota party will succeed..especially if you look at all the other parties that broke away from the ANC but one thing fo sho,we really needed somebody to knock some sense into the ANC.The rot in the ANC started long before Zuma's turn....all the ousted NEC members are millionaires. How is that possible when some kids still attend classes under a tree? The people at the helm of our beloved ANC forgot about the masses and became self serving, thinking only about their fat selves and bank balances. As much as we needed the Polokwane we also very needed this Shikota revolution.Let me give you a simple example.I work for a water utility and each time during water week the minister for water affairs and forestry tell people to use tap water because it's safe, cheap and affordable but throughout the year the very same minister ( and any other minister for that matter ) use bottled water. Can you imagine how much money can the government save, how many schools would they build if they were to use tap water in all their countless daily meetings?
The time for blind loyalty has come and gone, iphelile indaba ka elethu. The ANC is no longer a liberation movement but a political party....answerable to the millions of people who voted it into power. This Shikota movement is gonna strengthen our democracy. It's gonna weaken the ANC a bit and that will knock some sense into them. Our ANC has become to powerful for it's own good. The ANC musn't get a two thirds majority in the next elections so that they'll be forced to vote for president that the majority of people in the national assembly want, not a president who's preferred by about 3000 delegates who were at Polokwane.
I love the ANC but everybody here will agree that if you continue loving and being with a cheating partner you're not being fair to yourself.
UNDISPUTED SAYS:
28 October: @Master i salute you broe.....@Crazeb, what dreams are you talking about my african sistar....(just courious)
Mbhazima Shilowa was not elected to lead the ANC in Gauteng in 1999. In fact grassroots members of the party, defying instructions from head office, chose Mathole Motshekga.
At the time Thabo Mbeki overlooked the will of the people and, invoking the powers given to the President to appoint provincial premiers, gave the job to Shilowa.
So it was interesting yesterday to hear Shilowa announce his resignation from the ANC in order to devote his energies to organising a national convention “in defence of democracy”.
The first coherent idea he put forward was electoral reform. By that he meant public representatives should be elected by and be accountable to constituencies. In other words, the will of the people should be more accurately reflected in government.
MASTERT SAYS:
28 October: fellows! all in all it's personal decision! Let's hope their campain manifestos will feed us enough the data to make informed decisions!

29 October: Politicians only think about themselves even though our country looks ok there is lot that was destroyed by ignorate greedy politicians and their families and friends. Just take a look at the government housing scheme its ridiculous. The government gives tenders to friends or relatives regardless and AT the end we are left with sub standard facilities or customer care. Our home affairs is in shambles why? Shikota can say whatever he wants the ANC WAS given a chance and they didn't deliver granted it takes time to make changes they came and destroyed rather than make better EDUCATION HEALTHCARE PUBLIC SERVICE ALL A MESS (WHY???) PEOPLE ITS TIME TO BRING THIS POLITICIANS TO ACCOUNT. WE HAVE THE POWER ITS TIME WE EXERCISE IT OR WE WIIL BE THE NEXT ZIMBABWE VIVA MZANSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SBSZULU SAYS:
29 October: “Be vigilant, comrades. The enemy is vigilant. Beware of the wedge driver! Men who creep from ear to ear, driving wedges among us; who go around creating splits and divisions. Beware the wedge driver! Watch his poisonous tongue!” (Oliver Tambo, 1969 at the Morogoro Conference in Tanzania)
“We, genuine patriots and members of the ANC, have the unique responsibility and duty to ensure that the ANC is the kind of revolutionary movement that has the capacity to lead the sustained offensive for the realisation of this goal. We congratulate our President, Comrade Jacob Zuma, and the rest of our leadership elected by our 52nd National Conference, which will lead our movement and country as we advance to the celebration of the historic Centenary Anniversary of the people’s movement, the ANC.” (Thabo Mbeki, 2007)
YVONNE SAYS:
29 October: Viva!!! New Convention... let us do what is right for our Country.
JUSTDIDIT SAYS:
30 October: Viva Convention Viva...this is a great country with great potential a multi political system is the best thing that can help this great in this country to be achieve greater things. Allow the people freedom of choice. Let us have healthy debates on issues without feeling intimidated and/or insulted. Let us be a shining example to Africa and the rest of the world. Let us be mature about this. We have seem or heard how Tribalism and undying support for a corrupt Political Party has affected alot of our African countries. We should all vote, but most importantly vote for a Party that can make real change.
