929 days ago : WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING say.
" A message every adult should read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say."
WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING
(Written by a former child)
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting
on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I
learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favourite
cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the
special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer,
and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and
I learned to trust in God.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help
take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your
time and money to help people who had nothing
and I learned that those who have something
should give to those who don't.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take
care of our house and everyone in it and I learned
we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled
your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good
and I learned that I would have to be responsible
when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from
your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt,
but it's alright to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that
I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and
wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when
you thought I wasn't looking."
TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE I KNOW WHO DO SO MUCH FOR OTHERS
THAT THINK NO ONE EVER SEES. LITTLE EYES SEE A LOT.

23 March: Hi Wilson, I haven't been listening to your show lately, I got a job immediately after my exams last November & I work every Sunday & get home round 5 or 6pm. Firstly, wana thank u, 4 having HOOK-U-UP, Last July My perfect partner in my eyes called your show, I immediately fell inlove with that voice & I can with confidence say, He is the 1 God carved in the stars 4 me. Im in Cape Town, he's Joburg & we haven't met yet. Yet we are so in touch with each other, sometimes I wonder how we do it,we spoke marriage last year & kids. It all feels natural even though we are yet to meet. Secondly, POETRY-IN-MOTION, has alot of thought provoking & re-assinging oneself/being words, that sometimes are the 1 thing I need to hear to know that I am not alone with whatever I may be going through @ the time, example of such is: THE INVITATION.I remember the 1st time you read it & I called in & told you that the passage was from Oriah's Book, that I had read a month before & I was @ real low point in my life & had contemplaited suicide. That book got me through that period, but I no longer have the book, I borrowed it because I wanted to share that experience with other people, the book has not made its way back to me though. Im sorry i've missed your shows lately, but know that I am eternally grateful to you & your show. Keep doing what you are doing, you are affecting peoples lives. THANK YOU

04 April: Hi Wilson
You read for me a poem last Sunday and it really touched my feelings. I was outside busy with my garden when you started reading that poem. My wife called me to come and listen to it, unaware that i am listening. It goes like "go away or let them go away", and you went on and on. Wilson if you can please forward me that poem, but if not possible read it again this Sunday and i will write it down.
SBU2847 SAYS:
12 April: Hi Wilson B Nkosi! can you please confirm the name of the artist TEDDY MOWERT i think i heared so. she sings a song which goes like "oh Jah let us communicate with thee"
SDUMZERE SAYS:
24 April: wilson b nkosi, i suggest that each and every sunday, u should post da poem that u recite on that sunday because some of us usually cant listen to poetry in motion due to fact that our church time does clash with the time u recite the poem then we miss out gud and encouraging words so it will a gud idea for u to post them. then we erad them on metro's website. isn't this a gud idea?????

02 May: Hey Wilson, it's a dream come alive for me to communicate with you in this fashion...aah technology, we communicate in ways we never thought would be possible. Where do I begin? May 10th, 1992 when i first listened to your show, it was called "Home Sweet Home" then...you have inspired a lot of people before then and you still continue to do so...a blessing you are. I was only 18 then, oh how the years go by. I honestly thank the MAN above for being so kind to give radio one such as you. I remember later that you were to play one of the greatest song I have ever heard, a song by Patty Austin "Don't know whether to laugh or cry" and Jeff Mcbride's"You go to my head".
Ahh...Bra that was music right there. Sir if it's not asking too much, is it possible for you to include those songs in your next compilation of the now much anticipated 'Soul Moods'. In closing, you have been the best thing on radio then and you will continue being such for the many years the Man upstairs grants us and you Sir. And lastly I will always miss Grant Shakoane on radio.
Much love.

I myself like many others am totally addicted to your show, many of my friends think im boring at this point because im a 18yr old and should be jamming to the latest sounds, they talk like this because they have never felt the likes of Nora Jones, Joan Armatrading speaking to they soul... MAYBE
Maybe. . we were supposed to meet the
wrong people before meeting the right
one so that, when we finally meet the
right person, we will know how to be
grateful for that gift.
Maybe . . . when the door of happiness
closes, another opens; but, often
times, we look so long at the closed
door that we don't even see the new
one which has been opened for us.
Maybe . . . it is true that we don't
know what we have until we lose it,
but it is also true that we don't know
what we have been missing until it
arrives.
Maybe . . . the happiest of people
don't necessarily have the best of
everything; they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way.
Maybe . . . the brightest future will
always be based on a forgotten past;
after all, you can't go on
successfully in life until you let go
of your past mistakes, failures and
heartaches.
Maybe . . . you should dream what you
want to dream; go where you want to
go, be what you want to be, because
you have only one life and one chance
to do all the things you dream of, and
want to do.
Maybe . . . there are moments in life
when you miss someone -- a parent, a
spouse, a friend, a child -- so much
that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real, so
that once they are around you
appreciate them more.
Maybe . . . the best kind of friend is
the kind you can sit on a porch and
swing with, never say a word, and then
walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.
Maybe . . you should always try to put
yourself in others' shoes. If you feel
that something could hurt you, it
probably will hurt the other person,
too.
Maybe . . you should do something nice
for someone every single day, even if
it is simply to leave them alone.
Maybe . giving someone all your love
is never an assurance that they will
love you back. Don't expect love in
return; just wait for it to grow in
their heart; but, if it doesn't, be
content that it grew in yours.
Maybe . . . happiness waits for all
those who cry, all those who hurt, all
those who have searched, and all those
who have tried, for only they can
appreciate the importance of ll the
people who have touched their lves.
Maybe . . . you shouldn't go for
looks; they can deceive; don't go for
wealth; even that fades away. Go for
someone who makes you smile, because
it takes only a smile to make a dark
day seem bright. Find the one that
makes your heart smile.
Maybe . . you should hope for enough
happiness to make you sweet, enough
trials to make you strong, enough
sorrow to keep you human, and enough
hope to make you happy
Maybe . . . you should try to live
your life to the fullest because when
you were born, you were crying and
everyone around you was smiling but
when you die, you can be the one who
is smiling and everyone around you
crying.
Maybe . . . you could send this message
to those people who mean something to
you, to those who have touched your
life, to those who can and do make you
smile when you really need it, to
those who make you see the brighter
side of things when you are really
down, and to all those whom you want
to know that you appreciate them and
their friendship.
And if you don't, don't worry; nothing
bad will happen to you. You will just
miss out on the opportunity to perhaps
brighten someone's day.

FIBRE SAYS:
01 March: For That Little Girl
For the fire that burns in a party, a time,
I feel the heat that burns the meat before the dance,
Tears that drip down that liquor bottle,
Before that little girl cries, I cry,
The dance that never ends,
There's a permanent marker spotting her every move,
She was broke, stressed and thirstier when she came,
From her home that was extended with agitating atmosphere,
He was loaded and horny when he came,
With a silly purpose in his brains,
Intoxication gave her power to deny the deal, that's the drill,
Damn, he was pierced; his pockets, cash free all of a sudden
He forcefully sexed her three times and disposed her dead,
For that little girl, I cry a pool of tears apart from that, she's gone

10 March: MY NAME IS NELISIWE KHUMALO I'M 20 AND LISTENING TO METRO IS LIKE SECOND NATURE TO ME. THE POEMS YOU READ HAVE HELPED ME IN MY MOST PAINFUL TIMES... I ALSO LOVE WRITING POEMS AND I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU SOME TIME. WELL HERE IS ONE OF THEM.
HOPELESS HEART
WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES
I CANT SEE ANYTHING NICE
MY MEMORIES ARE TEARS AND PAIN
MY HEART SO EMPTY NOTHING TO GAIN
ALL THIS CONFUSION, HURT AND ANGER
WILL IN THE END PUT ME IN DANGER
I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SMILE FOR YEARS
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE OF MY FEARS
AND SOMETIMES A SMILE COMES WITH TEARS
I DON'T KNOW WHY IT HURTS SO BAD
AND IT'S BEYOND MY UNDERSTANDING WHY I'M SAD
NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT I'M FEELING
FOR THEY DON'T BRING HEALING
IF ONLY I COULD FIND LOVE IN MY HEART
THEN MY DAYS WILL SURELY BE BRIGHT
AND THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN
I WILL HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN
MY MEMORIES WILL BE FILLED WITH JOY
AND MY HEART WILL NO LONGER HAVE A VOID
MY PREDICAMENTS WILL END
THEN MY BROKEN HEART WILL MEND
BY.....Nelly
i'm still an amateur so pls bear with me

14 March: She doesn't like me anymore,
It must have been something that I said,
And that explains why she went off so quickly
with another man.
She doesn't like me anymore,
Or else it's all in my head,
'Cause she called me up late last night,
And today she says it's an accident.
Doesn't like the way I dress,
She says my hair is such a mess,
Why do I give any time for her
(she doesn't wanna, she doesn't wanna)
Doesn't want to be seen with me,
Even if it's perfectly,
But I always thought she was my type.
She doesn't like me anymore,
Or the music that I play.
'Cause she says it's annoying and too loud,
And reminds her of Green Day.
She doesn't like me anymore,
She hates my stupid jokes.
And I think that she's so so good tonight,
She doesn't notice anybody else.
Doesn't like the way I dress,
She says my hair is such a mess,
Why do I give any time for her
(she doesn't wanna, she doesn't wanna)
Doesn't want to be seen with me,
Even if it's perfectly,
But I always thought she was my type.
She doesn't like me anymore
I try to make, yes I try to make her understand,
But she doesn't want me, no she doesn't want me as her man.
I try to make, yes I try to make her understand,
But she doesn't want me, no she doesn't want me as her man.
Doesn't like the way I dress,
She says my hair is such a mess,
Why do I give any time for her
(she doesn't wanna she doesn't wanna)
Doesn't want to be seen with me,
Even if it's perfectly,
But I always thought she was my type

27 September: SINCE YOU HAD THAT ABORTION
This is truly the end
Written in bible verses,
I'm blanketed in darkness
I can’t take a breath,
I'm filled with countless mistakes
Buried wit me or flushed down the drain *(sigh)*
That’s the least of my problems.
I can’t hear my heart beat
My mother took it,
I wish my lips could have told you
She had an abortion.
I could have been Big Mike
A doctor,
Or even the man writing this verse for all the followers
Or even through a mic.
But mistakes killed me like knives
I guess I was the sacrifice,
Crucified like Jesus
But why?
Tears could have mocked my eyes now if I wasn't so cold.
Mom I love you
But I wish I could’ve let my love unfold.
My worthless limbs
Could have hugged you or wiped your tears,
But right now I feel deceived
Because I was never conceived.
I could have been the man of prayer
Or even the president,
But now we both will never know
What I truly was destined.
I could have given you the bible
Made you believe,
Lived to make you a follower
Or just made you a cup of tea.
I could have been anything you wanted
A lawyer,
Even a short living soldier.
For you I could’ve moved the sky
Placed stars in places you thought would never shine.
But I guess it had to happen
You had that abortion.

10 October: At the age of 27,after 23 years of Metro's existence.I finally get a chance to say "Thank You,Dad",let's not get it twisted,i am just a son of a man who grew up without a father figure in my life and when i heard your voice for the first time when i was at my high schooling years(1997) i was a troubled kid driven with pain and anger towards the man whom i never got a chance to see.You touched that mic with words so wise but yet so strong and unforgiving.I felt as though i finally met the man i longed to see,Mr. or should i say SIR Wilson B Nkosi.A young tender heart took its spot and fears to rest.I have grown today to be a father of a two year old son and a young man on his way to be what one would say an ideal man and for that i just want to say "Thank You,you have been an inspiration to a lost sheep, thanks for taking a stand for a man who saw fleeing as a last option".Keep up the good work and by the way....we are listening to this very day.Sir,you are the best teacher i have come to know.

30 April: Man, let me just be honest with you, I'm in love with your show. I love the poems you shared. You are such an inspiration.
I just want to share the following poem with you... Its written by me, I was just thinking about my dearest mother whom I lost in 1990. I'll be glad if you can share this one with the public on the Mothers' day.
A letter to my Mom
Once again the day has come
Once again the day of remembrance has come
It is the day where I remember You;
Once again the moment has come
It is the moment where I become silent and reflect
Reflect to the good works you have done for me.
Once again, the day has come.
Oh! What a lovely mother you are?
What a strong tranquil parent you are?
What a courageous inspiring parent you are?
Oh! I still remember
I still remember your protective love you always have.
I still remember your inspiring and motivational words;
I still remember your words or wisdom
Oh! What a lovely aspiring mother you are?
I still remember every sacrifice you did for the benefit of my being.
I still remember your hard work all days of the week in order for me to have something to eat and wear.
I saw you crying one day, but when you realised that I saw you,
You wiped all the tears and started to act normal.
You never told me what the problem was,
But now I’m an adult
I know the ups and downs of life
I’ve been through to heavy storms and I survived.
I think I know the reason for you to cry in those days.
Thank you Mama, I am what I am today because of those drops of tears.
Once again the day has come.
Thank You Mama, Thank You Mama
Thank You for teaching me to be patient and tolerant.
Thank You for teaching me Peace and Love
Thank You for teaching me the spirit of Ubuntu
Thank You for teaching me the power of Hope
Thank You for all the African Values you taught me.
Enkosi Mama Enkosi Mama
Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers of this world…..

27 May: “Dry Tears”
There is nothing more they can
Do for him – only to sent him home
The family understands
That which has to be done
How lucky they are for this opportunity
Never have I once seen the mother shed any tear
A twisted story that needs
To be explained to the parents
It had to be carefully rehearsed
We can never mention how we enjoy to race
They assured that they understand
Never have I once seen the mother shed any tear
Seven missed calls I could tell
There’s a serious problem
A gunned down body had to be identified
Till the day he was buried
Never have I once seen the mother shed any tear
Maybe the mothers have seen it all
Maybe I should not question
We should burry our parents and
Not the other way round
The dry tears of the mother are
Only seen by the blind
“Check your post box. I have sent you the rest of the book”

Lesson learned
I learned from the best
I learned from great intellectuals
I learned from people of great expertise
I learned from people of high calibre
From artisans of great artistic creativity
I learned from Vumile Velaphi who excelled in drawings of
ninja tuckles
I learned from the best
I learned from go getters
I learned from people who are determined to make
life better despite the matters
I learned from my school preceptors
people who taught me from an early age basic writing
until I learned to write my first love letter
I learned from many friends
True friends who tirelessly provided
me with helping hands
I learned from many peers who went through
worse hustling with me over the years
I learned from many people
People who made me stand tall
resurrecting me when I leaned against the wall
I learned from the best as much as I learned from
those who regard me as worthless
People who hate me regardless of my kindness
