Robert Marawa speaks 'marriage'
METRO FM together with MTN South Africa announced a new partnership that sees MTN as the new sponsor of The Sports Centre presented by respected radio anchor Robert Marawa on Monday, May 14.
This historical union that Marawa described as ‘marriage’ on-air will run for a period of three years.
The leading telecommunications brand and trend-setting lifestyle radio station are teaming up together to bring exclusive sport programming that will be a treat to the fans.
They are also giving away R20 000 to a creative listener who will give the show an Ayoba name. The winner will be announced during Marawa’s show on Thursday, May 17.
Chief Marketing Officer at MTN SA, Serame Taukobong said the partnership is a perfect fit for MTN as a brand that is not only passionate about sport but also associated with various sporting codes including football, cycling and rugby.
“We acknowledge the importance of radio and therefore it is innate that we look at platforms that can sustain our presence, but also our commitment to connecting fans with their passion for sport,” said Taukobong.
METRO FM Station Manager, Martin Vilakazi has confidence that the partnership will help deliver quality programming associated with The Sport Centre. “We are opening a new page that will inspire all South Africans and further confirm METRO FM as a leading radio brand that seeks to entertain, inform and educate through quality programming,” said Vilakazi.
METRO FM Sports has won an MTN Radio Award for three conservative years for the best Sports Show in a commercial radio station category.
“The Sports Centre has established itself as one of the leading sports shows in the country which covers a diverse range of sporting codes and connects fans with the latest developments on and off the playing field,” said Taukobong.

Marriage is a complex thing we make mistakes but like in any relationship a person must repent/confess to the partner if we believe in making it work, and you must always consult or know your partner when doing things that is openness, that is to say marriage is base on spiritual principals

Infact very happy for this historical union between MTN and the Sports Center, that Marawa described as ‘marriage’ on-air. Metro Fm was my standard of choice when l was there during the World Cup last 2 yrs and Sports Center is in my heart every where l go. Am also a Ghanaian Sports Journalist now based in London, still Metro Fm lead's the best when it's come's to media profile ethics between UK and South Africa, when it come's to branding, events(Sports,Social,Entetainments and Education),Marketing,Programming,Music,Presentations,On-Air personalities and Programmes Jingles. Kudos to you all am proud of you,God bless MADIBA,reign high Metro Fm. Frm Vincent Owusu-Appiah (Radio Focus,London)

Truth be told - Of all South Africam soccer stars - Bennie MacCarthy is the best since Jomo Sono. Not a single person in South Africa has ever achieved what this boy has . As sport loving South African we need to put club politics aside and give credit to whom it is due. We must not demonise him or even doubt his abilities for his record speak for itself. I appeal to Robert Marawa to rise above club favouritism and recognise Bennie as a national asset. Media is a dangerous tool in the hands of self -centred and narrow minded journalists-- Themba Ndlovu

Dear Station Manager
RE: COMPLAIN AND DEMAND FOR A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM TboTouch
It is in utter disbelief that I am sending this. I would like to express a huge complain regarding the words that TboTouch expressed regarding homeless people.
"You see this homeless people around the traffic lights should be removed, today I was trying to overtake. I think this people can see and pretend to be blind. Some of them even have PAs. I DO NOT GIVE A FAT RAT, if some of them are disabled they must make something of their life, One boy even spoke to me with a voice showing that he smoke clue"
He said this narrow minded insensitive words about this reality of South Africa on the 20 September 2012 just after the 16h00 news. Zama even tried to show him the other side of the story but no TboTouch thinks all people had opportunities like him.
I felt as if he was saying that to me.
PLease make him do an on air apology and email me personally then I will tune in again as I feel Metro can be be diminished by such people.
I concerned, annoyed and irritated Listener

I think Mlu can do a better job taking over from Tbo Touch, now that he is off to wherever he came from.I like Sbu but eish Touchdown is too bigger shoes for him no disrespect. I tuned in for the first time yesterday and I was not impressed with the lack of energy and challenging the listener something that T Bo Touch was excellent at...
