6 Children Killed in JHB crash

Six children between the ages of one and seven have been killed in an accident near Meyerton in the Vaal Triangle. The driver lost control in wet conditions on a bridge on the R59. They were en route to Vereeniging.

The six children were declared dead at the scene. The driver and one remaining child are in a serious condition in hospital.

In another incident, a truck driver has been killed in an accident on the R501 between Carletonville and Potchefstroom in the North West, paramedics said today.

The cause of the accident will be investigated by the relevant authorities

His vehicle overturned on the road, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and found the vehicle lying on its side. They could not free the driver as he was trapped inside the cabin, he said.

He was declared dead on the scene after firefighters arrived and cut through the wreckage to gain entry.

The cause of the accident will be investigated by the relevant authorities, said Banks

anonymous 184 Days Ago Report Abuse

i think it up to us all to be responsible as parents we must know the transports are not safe, roadworthy for our kinds so prevention is better than cure, AND i would suggest that the law must be very tough in our roads. God be with the families RIP !!

anonymous 183 Days Ago Report Abuse

poor innocent little children. when will all south africans wake up. its your fault the children died. you are to blame as a whole because you allow everyone to break the law in an extreme way. where is the real outcry. people just accept that these little innocent children die or anyone dies on the road for that matter. its up to the leaders to make it happen. start a movement. you have great roads just insane drivers. train the police to drive properly and they can be the example for everyone to follow. i am from canada and drive in joburg and around south africa. several months throughout the year. I LOVE SOUTH AFRICA but you are killing yourselves. killing people through reckless driving is criminal in canada and will put you in jail for a long time but in south africa its just accepted as reality. sad sad sad.

IT SO SAD ABOUT THE LOST OF SIX KIDS MAY THEIR SOUL REST IN PEACE.ITS HIGH TIME NOW SOUTH AFRICA MUST TAKE THIS TO CONSIDERATION HOW PEOPLE DRIVE SPEED IN ZONE.I THINK THE GOVERNMENT MUST INTRODUCE THE CAMERA ALL OVER THE ROAD SO PEOPLE MUST DRIVE CAREFULL AND THE LAW MUST BE VERY STRICT BECOUSE MANY PEOPLE THEIR LIFE ARE IN DANGER,THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER THEY MUST STOP USING MONEY FOR FUN LOOK LIFE OUTSIDE AND SAVE THE SOULS OF SOUTH AFRICAN.AND SECONDLY PEOPLE WHO DRIVE WITHOUT INSURING A CAR,DRIVE WITHOUT A LICENCE THAT ITS RISK OF LIFE.

anonymous 178 Days Ago Report Abuse

THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HELP US FROM THESE TERREBLE ACCIDENTS IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE INCREASE MORE TRAFFIC COPS ON A DAILY BASIS. THEY MUST BE VISIBLE EACH AN EVERY MINUTE IN THE ROADS SO THAT THEY CAN SCARE THESE WRECKLESS DRIVERS WHO ALWAYS IN A HURY. IF WE AS A NATION WE CAN ALSO WORK TOGETHER WITH THE COPS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE FIGHT THIS EVIL EXPERIENCE, ITS RIDICULOUS REALY GOD MUST HELP US WE R HEART BROKEN.

i think they should take this case seriously due to the fact that every december we exprieceng high death of car accidents most caused by high speed and drinking.every december we lose innocent people expecially young brothers and sisters. why ? elvis ,Dubai

anonymous 171 Days Ago Report Abuse

things are just not rite poeple will blame it Satanism that is alround

anonymous 171 Days Ago Report Abuse

This is very sad and frankly i think at this time of the year all drivers should lower their speed on the roads or better yet avoid traveling by motor vehicles and travel by trains and yes there are train accidents but fewer than the everyday slaughter of our people on the national roads.

I"M NOT SURE WHATS WRONG WITH OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM, BUT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY SOMETHING NOT RIGHT. PEOPLE THEY JUST DONT CARE AT ALL, OUR LAWS ARE TOO LINIENTLY LET THIS MAN BE PUNISHED HARDER. EVEN THOUGH THIS WILL NOT BRING BACK THE LITTLE ONES.

anonymous 138 Days Ago Report Abuse

Arresting the calprites wouldn't be a wrong idea

anonymous 138 Days Ago Report Abuse

may the 7 lil souls rest in peace and may God grant their parents the strength to accept that which they cannot change. south africa is a very beautiful country yet again its full of inconsiderate drivers on the roads. verybody is always in arush to get somewhere and that on its own creates a very big problem. traffic police need to be more stern about licence and road worthiness of cars. a campaigne needs to be carried out following the death of these lil angels to awaken the Ministry if transport.

anonymous 135 Days Ago Report Abuse

Reckless endangerment of any form by any person whatsoever cannot and will not be tolerated. To lose one life is a loss too many,to lose six at a go particularly under questionable circumstances is devastating. This person has committed voluntary manslaughter and should not be allowed on our roads. Clearly he is a lunatic, should have known or ought to have known that driving under such conditions was treacherous. This is an unforgivable act and inconceivable breach of trust.May their soul rest in peace and hope that their deaths are not in vain. From AMA.

anonymous 134 Days Ago Report Abuse

owners of taxi s should always be aware of the vehicle road worthy before boarding any passanger inside especially kids that age, and also drivers should be aware of speed in rainy days because the car can loose control at any time. please adhere to required speed limits and save lives. Accidents can be prevented. Condolences to all the parents, they are really going through a hard time.

anonymous 84 Days Ago Report Abuse

sad indeed

anonymous 83 Days Ago Report Abuse

Is that all that everyone can say?? That it's so sad!! It's downright pathetic that our children must be subjected to this kind of abuse, where drivers do not practice caution. This is by far NOT the first time that you read of killings of this nature. Peoples lives are taken for a joke, that's why there are so many deaths on the roads. Drivers don't adhere to the rules of the road, there's no courtesy, and driving like the wind seems to be the order of the day. Those children were taken away from their families too soon and now nobody is being held responsible for that. The government needs to step up their game and make sure that the roads are SAFE for EVERYONE.

anonymous 76 Days Ago Report Abuse

i think people should learn to be more tolerant on the roads especially when it is raining. this is not right everytime we learn of sad stories like this, little kids loose their lives because of rekless driving. i am not saying the drivers are careless, but speed kills, better late than never people.

thanks.
